School Games Organisers and Teachers from across Tyne & Wear gathered at Gateshead Leisure Centre this morning to take part in Inclusion Tutor Training.
The course focused on the Top Sportsability resource and equipping attendees with the tools to deliver the training to young leaders in their areas.
The key aims of Top Sportsability are:
1 provide a vehicle for the inclusion of disabled and non-disabled young people in physical activity and sport.
2 suggest specific idea and strategies to support the inclusion of young people who have significant special needs and impairments.
3 a basic introduction to a range of sports, including 3 current Paralympic sports, in support of the School Games programme.
The course will raise leaders confidence, knowledge and understanding and enable them to deliver quality fully inclusive sessions.
The timing of the session was perfect on the back of the amazing inspirational Paralympics staged in London during the summer.
